Executive Chef and Owner Dan Krohmer of Las Vegas’ favorite Asian seafood restaurant and critically-acclaimed off-strip hotspot, Other Mama, announces his highly anticipated arrival to Downtown Las Vegas with the debut of Hatsumi and La Monjá to Fergusons Downtown this spring.
“The entire Other Mama Hospitality crew and I are excited to expand our cuisine and culture to Fremont East,” says Chef Krohmer, “It’s where I choose to live and spend my free time so I’m honored to have the opportunity to be part of the new energy and development in Downtown Las Vegas.”
Since partnering with Fergusons Downtown on the concepts, Chef Krohmer has been meticulously overseeing the development of two new restaurants, both honoring the cuisine and culture experienced on his extensive travels to Japan and Mexico. Hatsumi is slated to soft open its doors on mid-May, closely followed by La Monjá in later this spring.
Chef Krohmer has appointed Chef de Cuisine Bobby Silva to manage kitchen operations at Hatsumi. Silva brings a wealth of experience in Japanese dining on the strip with respected organizations such as Mina Group, SushiSamba, and Momofuku under his belt that will sync well with Chef Krohmer’s vision for the menu. Chef Noel Flores will helm the kitchen at La Monjá as Chef de Cuisine and equally complements Chef Krohmer’s intention for the menu with an impressive background in Mexican dining while working alongside celebrated chefs and restaurateurs Jose Andres, Lorena Garcia, Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken. La Monjá will offer a delightfully tacky approach to its ambiance reminiscent of a scene from Quentin Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn. Menu highlights include coastal seafood ceviches, handmade masa, and Nixtamal corn tortillas, and a beautifully curated array of agave-heavy spirits and cocktails designed by mixologists Dave Cooper and Bryan Tamayo.
