511 Fremont Street
Let’s be honest here. The Griffin on Fremont East is known as a magnet for Downtown Las Vegas hipsters. But, if that’s what you’re looking for, then it’s perfect. Don’t let that be the reason you don’t check out the joint though. You’ll enjoy no cover charge, some cheap on tap, and the latest indie bands on the jukebox. Even though it’s a relatively new establishment, it still has an old Vegas feel. You’ll find low lighting, comfortable seating, and the ambiance is outstanding.
The Griffin has a very chill atmosphere. How can it not? It has two circular fire pits. The bartenders are super nice and they’ll concoct almost any drink you desire.
Not looking for a big crowd? Make sure to show up at The Griffin before 11 pm, as that’s when it starts to get busy. Most other bars on Fremont East are no different. Don’t worry though. It usually doesn’t get so crowded you’re not able to sit down or move around. More into house music? Head to the back room and dance the night away.
There is no theme at The Griffin, as it’s not really needed. All you need is a great jukebox, cheap beer, cold drinks, and an awesome place to sit and have a conversation. And, don’t worry if you aren’t a hipster. All are welcome at The Griffin.
About Downtown Las Vegas
Downtown Las Vegas in recent years has played second fiddle to the larger and more famous Las Vegas Strip, which is located a few miles to the south. The city has been working on revitalization efforts to entice more visitors and residents to the downtown area.
In 2012 several new downtown projects were completed. The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the new Mob Museum and a new City Hall building opened.
In addition, an agreement was finalized for the tech company Zappos to move into the old Las Vegas City Hall to use as its new headquarters by 2013. It is hoped the deal will give the downtown area a new economic anchor to attract new businesses and help revitalize the area. – Wikipedia
