So, several people asked me, what I thought about the Scott Weiland concert at the Pearl. Let me first start off by telling you how much I like the Pearl at the Palms (can you tell where this is headed, lol). The Pearl is an awesome venue. It has the feeling of an intimate concert hall, having a mixture of General Admin standing area, seats for those that done feel like moshing, and balcony seating. There really isn’t a bad spot in the place to see a concert. I look forward to returning.
Now, the concert itself. I was pretty disappointed, to be honest. I was really hoping to enjoy as great Scott Weiland concert, as I grew up listening to Stone Temple Pilots. Unfortunately, it felt like Scott forgot he had a concert this night and just threw something together at the last minute. Please bear in mind, I TOTALLY went into the concert wanting to write a good review. I was apprehensive about even writing this review, as I want to be supportive to everyone. Hence why it’s now 6 days later that I’m putting up this review. I’m posting it because my readers basically demanded it. 🙂
Did I hear some of my favorite songs from Stone Temple Pilots? Sure, a couple of them. If I wasn’t familiar with the songs, would I have known what song Scott Weiland was singing? No. Either the years have gotten to Scott, or he was just having “one of those days”. I don’t know. I wish I could have told you that the concert was awesome and everyone should go see Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts live, but I know my readers want my honest opinion.
There was one interesting part of the show though. Scott thought it would be a good idea to climb upon the stage right speakers and pull off an American flag that was attached to the wall. Mind you, these speakers appeared to be at least 6 feet tall, if not taller. I don’t think this was part of the act, as it took some time for Scott to get the flag off the wall. He then jumped down from the speakers and proceed to march around the stage with the flag, spinning it around. Good thing I had my iPhone handy, as I took some video of it (see video below).
Will I go back to the Peal at The Palms again? Of course. It’s an awesome venue. Will I see Scott Weiland perform again? I highly doubt it. I’ll just stick to listening to Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver songs on my trusty iPhone. 🙂 At least I know they’ll sound awesome every time. – Jeremy Womack
